LOS GATOS, Calif., June 14, 2023 – SVG Ventures|THRIVE, in collaboration with ICL Planet Startup Hub, is thrilled to announce the launch of the Global Impact Challenge, aimed at identifying the most innovative, global companies driving toward a net-zero future for agrifood. In the face of the increasingly urgent climate crisis, disruptive innovation plays a pivotal role in creating a sustainable, prosperous, inclusive, healthy, and equitable future. The impact of climate change is already profoundly felt worldwide, demanding immediate attention and concerted action. Recognizing this defining challenge of our time, SVG VenturesITHRIVE is dedicated to catalyzing collective change through the Global Impact Challenge.
The THRIVE Global Impact Challenge is an international quest to discover startups at the forefront of advancing a net-zero future for agriculture. With a focus on four key themes, aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, this challenge aims to support the transition to net-zero by addressing crucial areas:
- Soil Health and Biodiversity
- Increasing Food Security and Waste Reduction
- Reducing and Offsetting GHG Emissions
- Water Management and Quality
“Climate action is a shared responsibility, and disruptive innovation is crucial to accelerate global efforts towards a net-zero future for agriculture,” emphasized John Hartnett, Founder and CEO of SVG Ventures|THRIVE. “We firmly believe entrepreneurs hold the key to shaping a sustainable future.”
Hadar Sutovsky, ICL’s VP External Innovation and GM of ICL Planet, agreed, “ICL Planet is deeply committed to developing responsible solutions for the sustainability challenges facing the global food and agriculture markets. By partnering on this challenge, we can create sustainable solutions and secure a prosperous future for communities worldwide.”
Applications are now open and will be accepted until July 28, 2023. Following the selection process, eight exceptional companies will have the opportunity to attend the prestigious THRIVE Global Impact Summit hosted on November 2 in Silicon Valley.
